AI in Czech Republic

Envisan-GEM, the Faculty of Civil Engineering at Czech Technical University in Prague and BigHub are developing an AI sorting line for construction and demolition waste: an RGB camera and ML models identify concrete, brick, ceramics and wood on a conveyor, and air jets divert each piece. The data-collection prototype is done; industrial deployment is targeted for 2027.

Czech fintech Patron GO (Antivirus s.r.o.), with 600,000+ users, is building Patron GO 2.0 with BigHub and Czech Technical University: ML models that categorise bank transactions automatically, community self-labelling that retrains them, peer benchmarking, and generative-AI personalised advice. The EU-co-funded project (June 2025 to May 2027) is in a Czech pilot, with Slovakia and Poland as the first foreign markets.

Czech insurers Kooperativa and ČPP (Vienna Insurance Group) worked with BigHub on Data Digger, an AI tool that takes a company registration number and compiles registers, websites, insolvency and land-registry records, property valuations and media signals into one standardised underwriting report. Built in three months on Azure OpenAI, LangChain and Tavily, it is moving from validation toward production, starting with property insurance, and won the VIG Xelerate Audience Award 2026.

Czech electronics retailer PLANEO Elektro deployed a BigHub-built voice AI assistant on its customer line, using ElevenLabs Conversational AI, Azure OpenAI and LangGraph agents with write access to SAP. Of 4,378 calls routed to the voicebot, 52% were resolved without an agent; average call time was 2 minutes 58 seconds.

The village of Mokrá-Horákov near Brno launched Tessa, an AI chatbot built by local student startup Citymind, on its website on 1 May 2024, probably the first municipal AI chatbot in Czechia. It answers questions from the municipal website's content, including PDFs, and cost the village CZK 50,000 for development and its first year. Since launch it has handled nearly 13,000 queries in over 6,900 conversations, answering 90.9% of relevant queries correctly and saving the office more than 670 hours.

Mendel University in Brno (MENDELU) piloted a Citymind AI chatbot on the website of its Faculty of Business and Economics (PEF), then extended it to dormitories and the canteen, the IT department and the sports centre. At PEF it has handled over 65,200 questions, answering 93.8% of relevant queries correctly and saving more than 1,713 hours, with over half of conversations outside office hours; admissions make up 35.6% of topics. The dormitory and canteen chatbot answers 85.8% of queries correctly.

O2 arena, the multi-purpose arena in Prague, uses a Citymind AI chatbot on its website to answer visitors' questions about tickets, entrances and event start times, parking and transport. During the period reviewed in a July 2026 Citymind case study, it correctly handled more than 49,400 queries, over 93% of relevant inquiries, saving more than 2,345 hours of manual processing, with more than half of conversations outside working hours.

Prague 6, Prague's largest municipal district, runs an AI chatbot from Czech startup Citymind on its website, launched in June 2025 through the EU-funded CommuniCity programme. Citymind reports identity cards account for 16.1% of queries, with 75.6% answered correctly, and an average user rating of 4.05 out of 5; unanswered questions are reviewed in Citymind Manager to find missing or unclear web content.
