Czech Army Virtual Recruitment Center: 'Adéla' Conversational AI Cuts On-Site Visits, 24/7 Voice + Text on TELMA Platform
Content
The Army of the Czech Republic deployed "Adéla," a conversational AI assistant on the DoArmady.cz Virtual Recruitment Center, built on TELMA's conversational platform, to deliver 24/7 text- and voice-based answers to prospective applicants. The 15-month project transformed the recruitment site from an "online recruitment booth" into a large information and recruitment center featuring a mobile-first interface, a gaming section, and structured training plans. Army leadership described the deployment in unusually strong terms. Per statements by Col. Iva Bednářová and MoD/Army leadership, the solution is "revolutionary, groundbreaking," and the website "grew in one year into a large information and recruitment center." Recruitment into the Czech Army had been administratively demanding, requiring multiple in-person visits, paperwork, and recruiter time on repetitive questions. There was no unified "from interest to enlistment" pathway, and the workflow fell short of the mobile, gamified, continuous digital experience a younger generation expects. The Army needed to make the process faster and simpler while still meeting strict public-sector security and compliance requirements. The solution combined TELMA's conversational platform with mSearch and mDataChat for structured and unstructured data retrieval, plus mVoice for voice synthesis. Adéla's voice was cloned from a real person within the Army — a deliberate choice for an exclusive, recognizable persona. Adéla can answer from the structured vacancy database and from all articles on the DoArmady.cz website, and is integrated with internal MoD systems. Communication is delivered in both text and voice channels. The system is operated jointly by MoD, LOM Praha, MAMA AI, and TELMA AI, with on-premises MoD infrastructure, integration with state identities and registries, and an SLA-bound support model covering L1 (recruitment center helpdesk) through L2 (IKS/IT MoD) and security/compliance. Operationally, the deployment simplified and accelerated the "from interest to enlistment" journey, reduced the number of physical meetings, and gave recruiters and superiors a transparent workflow. The site's user experience improved through mobile-first design, gamification, and training content, and the website took on a stronger informational role. Cybersecurity and availability requirements from MoD and state regulations shaped the architecture throughout. Looking ahead, the project team flagged fine-tuning in the initial post-launch period as the biggest challenge — once the general public and journalists began testing Adéla, critical feedback surfaced quickly. The team's recommendation for similar deployments: be well-prepared for the public launch and respond fast to emerging issues. Col. Bednářová and Army leadership point to team collaboration and the courage of all stakeholders, including the Army itself, to adopt the latest technology as the project's key success factors.
