North Yorkshire Council: AI Policy Buddy Saves 2,421 Hours in Children's Social Services

North Yorkshire Council deployed AI Policy Buddy from Leading AI for its children's social services teams. The AI digital assistant answers policy, procedure, and legislative framework questions instantly — freeing social workers to spend more time on direct work with children and families. In the first three months: 2,421 hours saved; 2,174 prompts processed; 849 users reached. In testing, AI Policy Buddy's responses matched the knowledge of the most experienced practitioners — while encouraging deeper professional judgement about how to apply information to specific cases. Staff feel more confident in understanding statutory requirements and better equipped to focus on human-centered aspects of their role. This is a strong example of AI augmenting professional judgement rather than replacing it.
