MENDELU PEF Chatbot Handles 65,200+ Student Questions at 93.8% Accuracy, Saving 1,713 Hours

Citymind's AI chatbot at the Mendel University in Brno (MENDELU) Faculty of Economics and Management has handled over 65,200 questions with 93.8 percent accuracy, saving the university more than 1,713 hours, with more than 50 percent of conversations occurring outside business hours, per a Citymind case study published 10 October 2026. "A year ago, we launched a digital assistant on the website of the Faculty of Business and Economics of Mendel University in Brno in cooperation with Citymind, which helps students and academic staff to solve their questions related to educational activities," said Jan Přichystal, Vice-Dean of the Faculty of Economics at MENDELU, in the case study. MENDELU had long faced a high volume of repetitive inquiries from applicants, students, and the general public. The deployment started as a pilot at the Faculty of Economics and Management (PEF) before expanding to dormitories, the canteen, the IT department, and the sports centre. Citymind originated in March 2023 as a MENDELU university course project guided by the South Moravian Innovation Centre (JIC). The first MENDELU Boost student entrepreneurial competition was won by the Citymind project, and the MENDELU deployment served as a flagship reference customer for the startup. Citymind's chatbot uses Retrieval-Augmented Generation hosted on Microsoft Azure servers in the EU via Azure OpenAI Service, with ISO 27001-certified security, full GDPR, AI Act, and Data Act compliance, automatic detection of up to 150 languages, and the Citymind Manager admin panel for analytics. At PEF, the chatbot handled 65,200+ questions with 93.8 percent accuracy and saved 1,713+ hours. Admissions make up 35.6 percent of all topics and have a consistently high success rate. The dorms and canteen deployment correctly handled 85.8 percent of queries with more than half of interactions outside office hours. "I would like to gradually replace the University Information System with digital assistants," said Přichystal, outlining the long-term vision. AI reports surface where communication needs clarification, providing a practical input for continuous website and process improvement across the university.
