AI-Powered Advanced Screening Centres Network

The European AI-Powered Advanced Screening Centres Network is a flagship initiative under the EU Apply AI Strategy, designed to accelerate the deployment of AI solutions for early detection and diagnosis of cancer and cardiovascular diseases. The network brings together pioneering healthcare facilities across EU Member States to conduct real-world clinical validation and local performance assessment of AI medical devices and diagnostic tools. By generating high-quality evidence on clinical and organisational impact, these centres serve as models for effective AI integration into care pathways, helping extend advanced diagnostic services to underserved and rural regions. The initiative builds on the European Health Data Space (EHDS) and connects with European Digital Innovation Hubs (EDIHs) and the network of AI deployment expertise. In the cancer domain, the network leverages the Cancer Image Europe infrastructure for multi-centre validation. The goal is to cover all EU Member States by the end of 2029, creating a pan-European ecosystem that bridges AI innovation, clinical research, and healthcare delivery to improve patient outcomes through earlier and more accurate diagnosis.
