Title
Pearson AI Study Tools: 1,200+ US Higher-Education Students Report Better Grades in 2025
Content
Pearson plc, the UK-based education company that operates a major US higher-education assessment and learning-tools business, released two AI perception surveys in 2025 that documented how college students are actually using AI in their courses. The end-of-semester AI report found that more college students using Pearson's AI tools said AI was helping them get better grades, with the majority of respondents reporting improved academic outcomes. The end-of-year AI report covering higher-education students and educators found that more students were embracing AI for active learning, while educators reported growing instructional opportunities to integrate AI into coursework. A third 2025 research piece, "More Than Just Answers", documented that students were using AI not just to find answers but for deeper learning behaviors such as exploring concepts, evaluating sources, and revising their own writing. The reports together covered more than 1,200 US higher-education students in the surveyed sample. Pearson's strategic framing of these deployments is articulated by Chief Executive Officer Omar Abbosh, who wrote: "The pace and direction of progress will depend on how effectively we invest in human learning. Every positive scenario for an AI-enabled future is built on human development. Every negative one stems from neglecting it." Pearson built the D.E.E.P. learning framework (Diagnose, Embed, Evaluate, Prioritize) to guide enterprise and education customers in integrating AI without losing the human learning layer. Pearson operates AI-enhanced study tools, AI tutoring features, and Degree Explorer products across its higher-education portfolio in the United States and United Kingdom, with deployments covering English-speaking universities and community colleges that use Pearson's learning platforms for course delivery and assessment. Looking ahead, Pearson plans to expand its AI tutoring features to additional course areas, deepen integration of its Skills Outlook research with product roadmaps, and continue positioning human-centric learning as the strategic complement to enterprise AI adoption.
