Ascento Guard: Autonomous Wheel-Leg Security Patrol Robots for Industrial Sites

Ascento, a Zurich-based startup founded in 2018 as a project at ETH Zurich, deploys Ascento Guard robots - autonomous wheel-legged patrolling robots for large industrial sites. Distinguished by their wheel-leg design capable of navigating stairs and uneven terrain, the robots perform tedious but important tasks including perimeter verification, fence integrity checks, thermal anomaly scanning, property light recording, parking lot clearance, and flood/fire detection. If a security threat is detected, alerts are sent to human guards via the Ascento App, which integrates with existing video management systems. The company raised $4.3 million in funding led by Wingman Ventures and Playfair Capital. Ascento reports having covered 3,000 kilometers for outdoor security since early 2023. The robots work in combination with human security guards to address labor shortages in the security industry.
