In the evaluation run by Wilson Sonsini, Icertis Vera Engage surpassed the firm's 90% accuracy target, reaching 95% accuracy on first-party contracts, 92% accuracy on third-party contracts and 94% accuracy on issue detection, which Icertis describes as critical for due diligence and compliance use cases. Annie Datesh, Chief Innovation Officer at Wilson Sonsini, said: "Dioptra blew every other tool out of the water by a wide margin. We're talking 95% accuracy versus between 40 and 60% for the other tools." Dioptra is described in the customer story as now embedded natively within Vera Engage.
Wilson Sonsini Goodrich & Rosati has more than 1,000 attorneys across 19 offices, and a large portion of its practice is devoted to cloud services companies. SaaS providers, infrastructure vendors and platform businesses routinely execute hundreds or thousands of customer contracts per year, each requiring review against internal playbooks covering liability caps, indemnification, data privacy, service levels and more. For the firm, that volume translates directly into attorney hours. The customer story says most AI contract review tools on the market were achieving accuracy rates around 50% on complex legal playbooks.
To determine which AI solutions were right for its work, the firm ran a head-to-head evaluation, a structured bake-off comparing various AI offerings against a defined set of real-world playbook tasks. According to Icertis, Vera Engage is built on advanced agentic AI frameworks designed to handle multi-clause issues, conditional logic, nuanced in-line edits and inferential reasoning. It surfaces its reasoning, showing attorneys not just what it flagged but why. Chris Brookhart, who led the evaluation project, said: "I was extremely impressed with some of the advanced reasoning. The agent correctly made some advanced logical connections I never would have expected, and having the agent explain its positions gave me a lot of confidence in its analysis."
The platform also handled single issues spanning multiple clauses, multiple issues within a single clause, and targeted in-line edits that corrected problems without unnecessarily rewriting surrounding language. Wilson Sonsini now uses Vera Engage as part of its Neuron Commercial service, a fixed-fee commercial contracting offering designed for cloud services companies. Attorneys use the platform to support first-pass review of customer agreements. Icertis says what began as cautious pilot use has become embedded in how the team operates, and lists faster deal cycles, consistent application of complex playbooks and fixed-fee pricing made viable by AI-assisted efficiency among the outcomes.
