Title
Humanoid Robot Deployment in Electronics Factory Logistics
Content
Siemens, in partnership with UK robotics company Humanoid and NVIDIA, deployed the HMND 01 Alpha wheeled humanoid robot in live logistics operations at its electronics factory in Erlangen, Germany. The robot autonomously handled tote-destacking tasks for over 8 hours, reaching 60 container moves per hour with a pick-and-place success rate above 90 percent. The deployment was integrated directly into Siemens production systems, communicating in real-time with other autonomous guided vehicles and human workers. Integration was handled through the Siemens Xcelerator platform, providing digital twin, AI-enabled perception, PLC-robot interfaces, fleet management, and industrial communication networks. The trial ran for two weeks in January 2026 ahead of the public announcement at Hannover Messe 2026. The simulation-first development approach reduced development time from up to 2 years to 7 months.
