Faster Whisper produces the raw transcript, Pyannote detects speaker changes and regex post-editing applies house style. IT developers and a department stenographer built it in about one and a half years; typists now process about twice the text per hour.

Austrian trade union GPA deployed checkts.gpa.at, an AI chatbot for labour law questions, with 88% of users opening the cited paragraph and 12% clicking through to the federal legal information system.

UNIQA SEE deployed an Azure AI medical referral solution on Microsoft Foundry, Azure Document Intelligence, and Azure OpenAI, cutting health insurance claims processing time from 15-30 minutes to 2-3 minutes per case (an 85-90% reduction), lowering call volumes, and freeing claims handlers for higher-value work — the first AI-powered end-to-end business process of its kind in Southeastern Europe.

Austria's Federal Government launched GovGPT, a nationwide sovereign AI platform for the entire public administration, unveiled on July 20, 2026 by Digitalization State Secretary Alexander Pröll. Running on Mistral open-weight models inside the BRZ federal data center, it will serve 180,000 federal employees by year-end, scaling to roughly 250,000 public-sector workers.

Since 2023 Wien Digital, the City of Vienna's IT department, has worked with Red Hat to give the city's 70,000 employees WienKI, a virtual assistant built on large language models that answers work questions from the city's digital documentation. It runs on Red Hat OpenShift on premises and Microsoft Azure Red Hat OpenShift, and the city plans to extend it to a digital citizen service.

Salzburg AG, an Austrian utility with more than 450,000 customers, runs LEA, a chat AI agent built on Cognigy (now part of NiCE) since 2018, later extended with Cognigy Knowledge AI and, in 2024, GPT. LEA covers 400+ topics, handles 160,000+ messages a year, completes 4,000+ orders and saves about 2,500 calls a month, with 89% user satisfaction.

Austria's Federal Ministry for National Defence deployed "ChatZentDoc," an OSINT (Open-Source Intelligence) tool built on IBM watsonx.ai, to help defense analysts query and classify daily-updated open-source data via natural-language questions with source-attributed answers. The NLP system, evolved from IBM Watson Explorer used since 2016, addresses hybrid threats while staying compliant with GDPR, IT Security Act, and EU AI Act.
