DX Commerce AI Agent for Customer Service Automation

Redmond, a Utah-based natural salt company founded in 1958 with more than 10 brands including Real Salt and Re-Lyte, built a production AI commerce agent in 10 weeks using Shopify Storefront MCP. The AI agent went live in February 2026 and is handling thousands of customer conversations monthly with high accuracy. Key results: a two-person team built the agent in 10 weeks; thousands of monthly customer conversations handled; full control over system prompt and response guardrails for product-specific messaging such as ingredient accuracy and sourcing; minimal ongoing maintenance after initial stabilization. The agent replaced a managed AI customer service tool that lacked sufficient control over AI responses and underlying data. Redmond consolidated three legacy Shopify stores internally using MCP to migrate historical customer and order data, eliminating a paid third-party app.
