CATL AI Factories Build Fourth WEF Lighthouse Factory with 320% Output Increase and 33% Cost Reduction

CATL is building its fourth AI factory in Zhongzhou near Luoyang Henan Province. Around 6,000 workers are constructing the factory near Luoyang in Henan Province with first and second construction phases already operational. Machine learning is used to improve process control of several production steps as well as energy management. Together with big data and additive manufacturing production output was increased by 320 percent and manufacturing costs were reduced by 33 percent at the CATL factory in Liyang according to the World Economic Forum justification for Lighthouse Factory status. The Zhongzhou factory spans 700,000 square meters equivalent to 98 football fields and serves as the center of a new Science and Technology Cluster with dozens of companies from upstream and downstream supply chains research laboratories and training facilities.
