Dongfeng Liuzhou Motor and AI² Robotics Agree to Put AlphaBot 2 Embodied-AI Robots into Car Plants

Dongfeng Liuzhou Motor Co. (DFLZM) and Shenzhen robotics company AI² Robotics signed a strategic cooperation agreement on 7 June 2025 under which AI² Robotics' AlphaBot 2 general-purpose robot is to be deployed for the first time in DFLZM's car factories, Gasgoo reported. The partners describe it as the first full-scenario validation of a domestically developed embodied AI large model in vehicle production. The agreement aims to apply embodied AI models across automotive manufacturing, covering quality inspection, assembly, logistics and plant maintenance, and to build a data flywheel in which real operating data from DFLZM's plants is used to keep improving the robot's model. AlphaBot 2 runs on GOVLA, an end-to-end vision-language-action model that AI² Robotics launched in April 2025 on top of its AI2R Brain platform. The robot has more than 34 degrees of freedom and 360-degree autonomous mobility, with its arms, torso and chassis moving in coordination. Planned tasks include loading and unloading material, where it lifts boxes from carts, adjusts their orientation and places them; towing empty carts using full-environment sensing and route planning; applying windshield labels; and placing protective cloth during door inspection, with GOVLA coordinating vision, decisions and motion. The two companies will also co-develop mobile transport robots and in-vehicle robotic systems and work together on manufacturing robot bodies and key components.
