AEON Humanoid Robot System for BMW Plant Assembly

Hexagon Robotics is using NVIDIA physical AI stack to accelerate robot training, validation and deployment, with its AEON system expected to perform assembly operations at BMW Plant Leipzig. The deployment is one of the first humanoid robot implementations in a German production environment. Hexagon Robotics uses NVIDIA physical AI stack including the Physical AI Data Factory Blueprint and NVIDIA IGX Thor for industrial-grade edge compute with functional safety. The AEON system is designed for complex assembly tasks that require dexterity and adaptability, areas where traditional industrial robots have limitations. The collaboration between Hexagon Robotics, NVIDIA, and BMW demonstrates how the German automotive industry is actively incorporating AI-powered robotics into production environments. The announcement was made at Hannover Messe 2026, where the automotive and manufacturing sectors showcased how AI and robotics are reshaping factory operations.
