Title
AIBIZ Boosts Semiconductor Yield with Lean AI Powered by AMD
Content
AIBIZ Technology, a Hsinchu-based semiconductor AI solutions provider, deployed AMD-powered Lean AI to boost semiconductor wafer yield in their production lines. The deployment combines AMD Instinct GPU accelerators with AIBIZ's custom machine learning models to detect process anomalies in real time and predict equipment failures before they impact production. Lean AI is AIBIZ's edge-AI inference platform designed for semiconductor fab environments, where direct measurement of every wafer is impractical and AI-based inspection must run at production line speed. The platform analyzes sensor streams from production equipment including temperature, pressure, vibration, and chemistry parameters, comparing real-time data against trained models of normal operation. When deviations are detected, the system flags wafers or equipment for review before defects propagate. "By deploying AMD Instinct accelerators in our inference pipeline, we can process hundreds of sensor streams in parallel and identify process excursions within seconds rather than hours," said an AIBIZ engineering lead. The combination of high-throughput inference and AMD ROCm software stack enables model retraining on new process data within hours, supporting continuous improvement as production lines evolve. Technically, the architecture combines on-prem AMD Instinct GPU clusters with edge inference nodes at each production tool. Sensor data is preprocessed at the edge and streamed to the GPU cluster for inference, with results returned as actionable alerts to process engineers via AIBIZ's dashboard. AMD ROCm provides the heterogeneous compute runtime that allows AIBIZ to mix training and inference workloads on the same hardware. ROCm's open-source ecosystem also enables AIBIZ to integrate custom AI kernels optimized for semiconductor process data. AIBIZ reports yield improvements and reduced false-defect rates compared with traditional statistical process control (SPC) approaches, though specific metrics are deployment-dependent. The AMD partnership positions AIBIZ as a provider of AI infrastructure purpose-built for semiconductor manufacturing, with expansion planned across additional Asian fabs.
