Ant Group launched AQ, an AI-native health app known in Chinese as Ant A-Fu, in June 2025 to handle common, everyday health concerns that do not yet require a hospital visit and to support healthy habits. According to an Ant Group release of 8 January 2026, the app had 30 million monthly active users as of January 2026 and answers more than 10 million health-related questions every day.
AQ connects users to digital services from 5,000 hospitals, online consultations with 300,000 doctors across China and more than 500 AI Doctor Agents co-developed with leading physicians and hospital departments. Physicians who launch an AI Doctor Agent on the platform have it trained on their own clinical experience, and the agents give free answers to users' routine health questions so that doctors can concentrate on more complex cases. Ant Group says AQ does not provide medical diagnoses or replace licensed physicians. Together the AI Doctor Agents answered more than 27 million health inquiries in 2025.
One example is Mao Hongjing, deputy director of Hangzhou Seventh People's Hospital and a sleep specialist, who could see roughly 10,000 patients a year in person; his AI Doctor Agent on AQ responded to inquiries from 3.68 million users within a single year.
The release cites a survey by the health media outlet Life Times of 500 physicians at China's top-tier hospitals, in which more than 70% said they would recommend AI doctor services for everyday health questions and routine health management, and AQ was the platform they recommended most often. Over 60% of the doctors said they already use AI doctor services in their work. Ant Group links the service to China's ageing population, with 310 million people aged 60 or over at the end of 2024.
