e-sensia, a French company specializing in artificial intelligence applied to healthcare, has been selected for the "Pioneers of Artificial Intelligence" call for projects, operated by Bpifrance on behalf of the French government under the France 2030 plan. The first edition of the programme supports research and development projects with strong disruptive technological potential that can have a lasting impact on the economy and contribute to national sovereignty in AI, funding them in successive phases from technological feasibility through to industrial-scale deployment.
e-sensia develops a voice intelligence solution that helps healthcare professionals detect and direct emergency situations by analysing voice signals in real time during medical calls. The system identifies critical warning signs faster while leaving the final decision to healthcare professionals. It was designed by physicians and co-developed with field stakeholders, and the company describes it as a safety net for human decision-making that enhances medical listening for medical regulation teams under increasing pressure.
The technology is already deployed at large scale with SOS Médecins Grand Paris, where more than one million calls a year are regulated with the support of the solution, and is due to be implemented in several SAMU emergency services.
With the Pioneers of AI funding, e-sensia plans to continue research and development on voice analysis and medical voice models, strengthen the performance of its technology, explore new use cases and contribute to sovereign AI solutions for healthcare. "The objective is clear: to develop a sovereign, robust, and scalable solution serving healthcare," said Cédric Thoma, co-founder and COO. Dr. Jean-Baptiste Perney, emergency physician and co-founder, added: "Our ambition is to strengthen French emergency medicine through technology designed and validated with physicians, for physicians."
