Modality.AI Integration in ALS Phase 1b Trial of VRG50635
Content
Verge Genomics has incorporated Modality.AI's multimodal AI platform into its Phase 1b clinical trial of VRG50635, a PIKfyve inhibitor for amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS). Modality.AI's system captures speech and language changes objectively through automated analysis of patient conversations, without requiring a clinician or special devices. Patients can participate from home using their own laptop or smartphone. The platform analyzes what patients say and how they say it, producing objective speech measures that quantify ALS disease progression and therapeutic response. This replaces traditional subjective patient and physician reporting through diaries and questionnaires. Verge's trial uses Modality.AI alongside Emerald Innovations' wireless digital biosensors for continuous at-home monitoring of neurological functions including sleep, breathing, walking, and mobility. The collaboration builds on Verge's all-in-human CONVERGE platform, one of the largest multi-omic patient databases in the field. Modality.AI's multimodal platform has been extensively validated in the ALS community and is used by top pharmaceutical companies for CNS drug trials.
