By 2025, Boeing had scaled the platform to 70+ generative AI applications organized into two pillars: one enabling Boeing's business operations and the other enabling its products and customer experiences. The deployment covers Code Assistant for software engineering, Sales Assist for client-facing sales teams, RFP response tools, and AI-enabled smart factory applications.
Grace Chrysilla, a Boeing software engineer, said: "It feels like having another expert on your team. Code Assistant produces software in seconds, breaking what once took days into mere moments." The AI leadership team is led by Abhi Seth, Boeing's chief AI and data officer, and Vishwa Uddanwadiker, chief AI officer.
The shift to enterprise-scale conversational AI addresses Boeing's role as a systems integrator where aerospace AI introduces unique traceability and verification requirements. Aircraft systems must meet safety-of-flight certification standards, and Boeing's AI framework is specifically structured to provide explainability and regulatory trust with customers including the FAA and international civil aviation authorities.
Architecture spans the Boeing Conversational AI platform running across enterprise systems, Code Assistant integrated into developer workflows, and AI-enabled smart factory systems where robotics, machine learning, and computer vision augment human capabilities. The platform supports AI applications for supply chain optimization, GenAI-powered sourcing automation, and predictive maintenance across the 737, 777, and 787 platforms.
