Title
World's First Smart Zero-Carbon Container Terminal with AI Robotics
Content
Tianjin Port, one of the world's seven largest ports with an annual container throughput of 20 million TEU and 20,000 employees, partnered with Huawei and China Mobile to implement the Smart Port Solution. This innovative project uses intelligent twins, autonomous driving, 5G, cloud computing, and IoT to create a better-connected, smarter, and more autonomous port system. The results are significant: the port needs 60% fewer staff than before, drivers now operate trucks remotely eliminating dangerous working conditions, overall costs are reduced by about 30%, and energy consumption is 17% lower. The port is also producing its own renewable energy as part of a zero-carbon initiative. The Intelligent Horizontal Transportation Management System creates a next-generation intelligent port brain that automatically generates optimal loading and unloading plans. The horizontal shoreline terminal operates the largest driverless fleet seen to date, comprised of 76 autonomous vehicles. On March 2, 2022, the GLOMO Awards recognized this solution as Best Mobile Innovation for Connected Economy. The system connects port operations, automates transportation, increases efficiency while saving costs and energy, and trades with over 800 ports and 200 countries worldwide.
