MOGOX, a subsidiary of Mushroom GmbH specializing in autonomous driving technology for commercial vehicles, deployed its L4 autonomous bus service on Sentosa Island, Singapore in late 2025, representing one of the first commercial-scale deployments of Level 4 autonomous buses in Southeast Asia. The deployment consists of five autonomous buses operating on fixed routes connecting major attractions, hotels, and transit hubs on the resort island. Each bus is equipped with a full sensor suite including LIDAR, radar, multiple cameras, and GPS with RTK correction for centimeter-accurate positioning. The AI perception system processes this sensor data to detect and track pedestrians, cyclists, other vehicles, and static obstacles in real-time, enabling the bus to navigate safely in the complex, pedestrian-heavy environment of a tourist resort. The autonomous driving system was specifically adapted for Singapore's tropical climate, which presents unique challenges including heavy monsoon rains that reduce sensor effectiveness, high ambient temperatures that affect vehicle systems, and dense vegetation. MOGOX's engineering team worked with Singapore's Land Transport Authority to map and validate the operational design domain, including detailed annotations of pedestrian crossing behaviors, traffic signal patterns, and road edge conditions specific to Sentosa. The deployment operates with a remote monitoring operator who can take control of any vehicle if the autonomous system encounters an undefined scenario. In its first six months of operation, the MOGOX autonomous bus service transported over 45,000 passengers with a 99.8% safety record.
