DBS Bank, Southeast Asia's largest financial institution by assets with operations across 18 markets, achieved S$1 billion (USD 750 million) in audited economic value from AI in FY2025 — a 33% increase from S$750 million in FY2024. The bank deployed over 1,500 AI/ML models across more than 370 distinct enterprise use cases, spanning customer-facing businesses and support functions.
Key deployments include: AI-powered fraud detection vetting 100% of technology change requests (81% reduction in system incidents); generative AI tools cutting call handling times by up to 20%; DBS-GPT internal assistant for employee productivity; and AI-driven credit and risk assessment tools. DBS employs rigorous A/B testing comparing outcomes between AI-supported and control groups — treating AI investments with clinical-level statistical discipline.
The bank began its structured AI journey in 2018, building internal data platforms, cultivating a 700-person Data Chapter, and following a Platform-Process-People governance framework. CEO Tan Su Shan has stated that AI deployment at DBS is already operational: "It's not hope. It's now."
