Title
PolarDT – Digital Twin of the Polar Region
Content
British Antarctic Survey PolarDT project (2021-2030) building Digital Twins of the Antarctic and Arctic environments. Uses AI and machine learning to create digital twins of polar regions, research stations, ships, and autonomous vehicles. Led by Dr Scott Hosking, head of BAS AI Lab and co-director of the Turing Research and Innovation Cluster in Digital Twins at The Alan Turing Institute. Integrates data from satellites, drones, radars, ocean floats, aircraft, robots and underwater vehicles. Digital twins enable testing of "what if" scenarios for climate prediction and environmental forecasting. Part of BAS modernisation programme at Rothera Research Station.
