Founded in 2020, we are the largest domestic distributor of fresh food today, growing rapidly to meet the huge demand that we see. Our mission is Feeding Africa and building Communities. With a rapidly growing and young population and the intensifying impacts of climate change, our work has never been more important to farmers and consumers alike. There are millions of farmers in Kenya that need finance, inputs, training and most critically, reliable access to markets. Over 90% of all fresh food is sold by thousands informal open-market traders. They need consistent access to produce, at the right price and quality. FarmWorks serves both the farmer and the market. Operational discipline is our obsessive focus. Data and technology allow us to scale and deepen our impact. An integrated agriculture ecosystem BUILDING THE NEXT GENERATION OF REGENERATIVE CLIMATE-SMART FARMERS We support thousands of farmers to adopt practices needed to increase production with the limited resources of our land. By providing finance, inputs, training on regenerative farming practices, and critical services, we are able to shift farmers towards more sustainable and profitable production. BRINGING STRUCTURE AND CONSISTENCY TO THE MARKETS Kenya has one of the most fragmented fresh food supply chain and markets in the world - 80% of all food is sold through open-market traders. They are served by thousands of single-car brokers who collect and deliver food of various quality and with no consistency. We have built a sourcing, grading and distribution infrastructure that has made us to most consistent and largest supplier of quality produce in Kenya. USING TECHNOLOGY TO DEEPEN AND SCALE We have adopted simple, but effective technology to allow us to capture real-time distribution and market data that allows us to eliminate wastage, use dynamic pricing and build trader loyalty. We are also leveraging simple field-tested data & tech to enable us to work with hundreds of farmers, enabling access to finance and services while creating producing transparency and improving our sourcing capabilities. Our Impact... Since our launch in 2020, FarmWorks has worked with 5000+ smallholder farmers all over Kenya to offer stable off-take and income for their production, promoting quality and regenerative agriculture, and bettering livelihoods. Our vision: Our goal is to double the income of 10 million smallholder farmers in Africa by building regenerative and climate-resilient agricultural ecosystems. Our values... Feeding our children During the drought of 2023, up to 40% of children dropped out of school due to hunger. We launched 'Malaika Kitchens' – a not-for-profit, community-owned school feeding support program. Our partner schools are feeding 6,000 children a day in the most cost-effective program in Kenya today.
