At ENEOS Materials' Yokkaichi Plant, Yokogawa's FKDPP reinforcement-learning AI, trained on a plant simulator, controlled two valves of a butadiene distillation column for 35 days in early 2022 and, after a refined model in April 2022, became part of routine operations. It stabilised production, reduced operator workload and cut steam use by 40%.
Ecolab built a Retail Intelligence app on Databricks that unifies nine data sources behind a coordinator agent and specialised sub-agents running on Claude Sonnet and Haiku, with Gemini used for image analysis. It launched in mid-April 2026 at hundreds of North American locations, with five Judge LLMs scoring every interaction.
BASF Agricultural Solutions, Google Cloud and prognostica used AlphaEvolve, an evolutionary coding agent, to evolve a supply chain planning algorithm from a seed program and three years of historical data. In initial tests on a product value chain, the evolved logic matched historical inventory and production more than 80% more accurately than the seed and rediscovered planners' rules.
Covestro's MARIS AI agent, built on Amazon Bedrock and integrated with SAP Master Data Governance, cut material master data record creation from 12 hours to 6 minutes across about 1,000 requests per month. A second agent, PARIS, for business partner data is planned to go live on SAP S/4HANA in early 2027.
Xingfa Group in Yichang, China deployed the world's first data-driven Autonomous Operating Plant (AOP) for chlor-alkali production using Supcon's TPT time-series AI model and UCS control system. The '81号数字员工' (Digital Employee No. 81) autonomously monitors and controls the entire chlor-alkali production process.
BASF Coatings, with 11,000+ employees across 70+ sites worldwide, partnered with Databricks and Accenture to deploy Marketmind — a production-ready multi-agent supervisor system for the Sales & Marketing division. After a 5–6 week PoC and a one-month pilot with 25 key users, the system is on track for go-live and rollout to North America by end of October, with more than 1,000 sales representatives worldwide expected to use the tool once launched.
BASF Coatings built MAUI, a governed multi-agent interface on Databricks, after separate teams kept rebuilding the same agent stack. Federated governance spans 16 data domains. Three first pilots are in production, with value growing from 0.5 million to 1.5 million annually, and more than 20 agents are in the pipeline across the division's 70 sites in 50 countries.
