Daewoong Pharmaceutical announced on 2026 that it has completed deployment of thynC, an AI-powered smart bed monitoring system, across 558 beds at Chonnam National University Hospital (CNUH) and Chonnam National University Hwasun Hospital—the largest thynC installation among Korea's national university hospitals. The deployment covers 217 beds at CNUH (main hospital in Gwangju) and 341 beds at CNUH Hwasun Hospital (specialized cancer center in Hwasun). thynC is a smart bed monitoring platform that continuously collects patient vital signs via wearable devices and integrates the data into a centralized ward-level monitoring system. The AI platform analyzes key physiological parameters in real time and immediately alerts healthcare providers when abnormal signs are detected, enabling faster clinical decision-making and emergency response. CNUH, a regional emergency medical center for Gwangju and South Jeolla, plans to deploy thynC primarily in departments with high concentrations of emergency admissions and critically ill patients, including cardiology, neurology, and emergency medicine. The hospital is also pursuing construction of a 1 trillion-won ($650 million) New Smart Hospital, and the thynC deployment is viewed as a significant step toward the digital healthcare infrastructure needed for that future facility. CNUH Hwasun Hospital, a Newsweek-ranked global oncology leader, has deployed thynC in medical oncology, hematology, and surgery wards where cancer patients are at high risk of rapid deterioration from complications such as infections and sepsis. "This thynC deployment represents another step forward in strengthening patient safety at a leading tertiary hospital," said Jung Shin, president of CNUH. Lee Wan-sik, president of CNUH Hwasun Hospital, added: "real-time patient monitoring is essential. Through thynC, we aim to further strengthen our patient safety management system." Technically, thynC combines wearable vital-sign sensors with edge AI processing at the ward level, with cloud-based analytics aggregating multi-bed patient state for centralized monitoring stations. Alert thresholds are configurable per clinical unit and patient acuity level. The system targets Korea's tertiary hospital market where demand for real-time general-ward monitoring is increasing as the population enters a super-aged society with growing chronic disease burden. Future direction per Daewoong: expansion to additional national university hospitals and integration with EMR-based clinical decision support.
