Deutsche Telekom and ElevenLabs have launched the Magenta AI Call Assistant, a carrier-level AI voice agent embedded directly in Deutsche Telekom's German mobile network — the first deployment of its kind globally. The assistant is presented at Mobile World Congress 2026 (March 2-5, Barcelona) as part of Deutsche Telekom's AI-first telco strategy. It activates during a phone call with the wake word "Hey Magenta" and provides real-time support inside the call, including live translation, conversation summarization, and task automation (booking reservations, filling forms, capturing action items). Deutsche Telekom's mobile network in Germany serves approximately 50 million customers, making this the largest carrier-embedded voice AI deployment to date. The technical integration at the network level was carried out by Radisys, embedding ElevenLabs' voice AI models and agents as native network functions rather than third-party apps. Deutsche Telekom plans to expand support to up to 50 languages over the next 12 months, with further services such as logistics coordination and appointment management to follow. Privacy is designed in: the assistant processes spoken content only after explicit customer activation during a call, and all participants are notified when the assistant is active. Without activation, no conversation content is stored or analyzed — aligning with European data-protection standards and the operator's opt-in consent model. "AI makes telephony even more valuable. We are breaking new ground with strong partners like ElevenLabs. Our new AI service will be embedded into our network. It overcomes language barriers, helps capture information, and coordinates appointments," says Abdu Mudesir, Board Member, Product & Technology, Deutsche Telekom. Mati Staniszewski, co-founder and CEO of ElevenLabs, adds: "Together with Telekom, we are redefining what a phone call can be. For the first time, AI agents will be embedded directly inside a call — translating languages, integrating context, and taking action in real time." The deployment positions the Magenta AI Call Assistant as a network-level reference deployment for the telecom industry, with Deutsche Telekom highlighting the service as a model for how carriers can deliver AI capabilities without requiring app downloads, premium hardware, or special device configurations.
