Title
Saudi Aramco Deploys AI at Industrial Scale: 442 Use Cases, 200+ Live, $1.8B Value in 2024
Content
Saudi Aramco, the state-owned oil company, has deployed artificial intelligence across its global operations as part of an industrial-scale digital transformation. In 2024, the company recorded $1.8 billion of AI-driven Technology Realized Value, identifying 442 use cases for AI in its operations, with more than 200 solutions already deployed and a further 100+ in development as of late 2025. The deployment leverages more than 10 billion data points daily to manage facility downtime, predict maintenance issues, and optimize energy production. AI models process seismic data, drilling plans, and well placement to accelerate operational decision-making across the company's upstream and downstream value chain. Aramco has deployed one of the region's first supercomputers, powered by NVIDIA GPUs, to accelerate complex computing tasks related to drilling plans and well placement. The company is also leveraging quantum computing to analyze vast amounts of current and historic seismic data for more detailed subsurface imaging, joining a number of other cutting-edge digital solutions that enhance facility monitoring and performance. The company has committed to training more than 6,000 AI developers, collaborating with institutions including Imperial College, Caltech, and KAUST. Aramco is also pursuing plans to acquire a significant minority stake in HUMAIN, a Public Investment Fund (PIF) company developing AI data solutions globally. HUMAIN is building full-stack AI capabilities including next-generation data centers, hyper-performance infrastructure, advanced AI models (ALLAM, one of the world's most powerful multimodal Arabic large language models), and Saudi Arabia's first NVIDIA Omniverse Cloud for physical AI simulation with digital twins.
