Tencent Health has deployed a cloud-based smart medical imaging platform at Guangxi Medical University First Affiliated Hospital, a top-3 hospital in Southern China (Fudan "China Hospital Comprehensive Rankings" Southern China region). The system integrates a medical imaging cloud platform serving a network of 4 medical alliance institutions: the main Guangxi Medical University hospital in Nanning, Dongxing, Mashan, and Hepu. Annual examination volume across the network is 1.6 million patient examinations, covering radiography, ultrasound, ECG, pathology, and endoscopy. The hospital, founded in 1934, has 2,750 beds, 46 clinical departments, 70 wards, and 19 medical technology departments. Total stored imaging data has reached 1.4 PB, with annual growth of approximately 100 TB in the last two years (compared to 20 TB ten years ago and 50 TB five years ago). The cloud imaging platform provides several capabilities: DICOM image viewing and electronic film download on mobile devices for patients, telemedicine and remote consultation between the central hospital and primary care facilities, integration with the hospital's internet hospital service for offline-online closed-loop care, and an AI analysis layer that supports lung nodule detection and pneumonia screening to assist primary care doctors with diagnostic decisions. The platform also enables imaging data to feed into research applications. The deployment began in early 2019 with the DICOM mobile viewer service and expanded significantly after September 10, 2020, when the hospital received its official Internet Hospital license, enabling deep integration between cloud imaging and online consultation services. The platform's primary value is enabling medical resource sharing across the regional medical alliance while making imaging services accessible to patients in lower-tier facilities.
